First Lutheran Church in Boston (second) is built.
1899
Architect: Thomas Silloway. It is located at 91 West Newton Street. Albert Schweitzer reputedly plays the church’s Hook organ during his visit to Boston in July 1949. The congregation moves to the current church (third) on Berkeley Street in 1957,* and the building becomes the home of the All Saints Lutheran Church (first). The building is converted by DHK Associates into the Jorge Hernandez / Villa Victoria Center for the Arts in 1986, and is demolished in 2020.
